Fresh install of both RoR2 and SS2, should only using mods related to SS2 because the only mods I downloaded were from installing SS2 and its dependencies.

Thanks in advance for any help!

So weird request. For whatever reason whenever we try to download the log it seems to be exactly identical to another issues posted log on the download meaning we can't see what may actually be going on. If possible could you try sending the log in a zip folder attachment instead incase this is a strange github caching issue?

I can also throw out more generic advise meanwhile. In the log there may likely be an error that's calling out that somethings not loading properly or missing a file if that's the case then on the mod manager can try going to settings > debugging > toggle download cache off and then redownloading whichever mod file it claims is missing

If it's generic then fully close steam and then open it by right clicking the program and running it as administrator then right click on risk of rain 2 > go to properties > installed files > verify Game integrity and see if that improves things

CosmicJerboa commented 1 week ago

Sure, here you go. (I also went ahead and compared it with a log I just got from trying to launch it again and can confirm this should be the right one)

Ok that works thanks. So the issue seems, funnily enough, similar to that other log github really wanted to replace your with originally. Complaints about both r2pi damage type and ror2bepinex pack not loading so it likely is either a corrupted game install thats breaking the hooks bepinexpack is trying to attach or the download for those mods are corrupted.

So same advise as above then with toggling the cache off and then grabbing ror2bepinexpack and or r2api damage type and if that does work then the run steam as admin and verify game files and let me know if that still doesn't work

CosmicJerboa commented 1 week ago

Neither of those worked.

Slipskip commented 1 week ago

Alright my only other lead is that this could potentially be a cursed profile moment. I do see it skipping over loading a really old version of ror2bepinexpack which on it's own is fine since it's not being loaded anyway but can try this then.

With the download cache still disabled download just bepinex and run the game and check if it works and boots to menu. If yes do the same with r2api If yes again then grab starstorm

I'm curious where it's going wrong in the chain and at least with a pure new profile it rules any funny things hopefully unless there was any manual installed mods in the past or launch arguments used to bypass loading from the mod manager in the past

CosmicJerboa commented 1 week ago

First bepinEx DOES launch on its own on another profile however there was a few errors that were still thrown so im gonna send them real quick. LogOutput.zip

Slipskip commented 1 week ago

Bepinex only seems fine to me since those are just vanilla warnings/errors so that's good so far

CosmicJerboa commented 1 week ago

Annoyingly enough, on the second profile it did reach main menu It did dump a shit ton of errors in the console though. LogOutput.zip

Slipskip commented 1 week ago

So to confirm this one did have ss2 enabled yeah? Cause if so that all looks fine if it finally made it to the menu

CosmicJerboa commented 1 week ago

Yea, it did have ss2 enabled

Slipskip commented 1 week ago

Then yeah ended up being a random cursed profile moment. I'm still unsure why exactly that can happen to people but all should be working mostly fine now outside of the odd bugs here and there with the new release

Shaxxspetotter commented 1 week ago

Creating a new profile and just running star storm does indeed work, cursed profiles would then also be the reason some other mods didn't work the way they were intended.

Here is the log of it working
