Support for Channel Tabs #2414

The channel page, in my opinion, is incredibly weak. It lacks a few key features that allow for sorting, filtering, and seeing curated content from a particular channel.

In my opinion, the channel page should eventually host at least the following features:

If this is considered, I also believe the 'About' and 'Affiliated Channels' pages could be combined.

when implemeting please add support for playlists and playlist tags

Further Music pages have playlists specifically listed as Albums, this could be very useful aswell. example albums page

None of these channel features had been implemented so far? I would love search inside channel too.

I agree. There was an open issue, but this one is used instead.

I have no idea how difficult this is to implement, but having to search using the Youtube website hampers everyone's workflow.

Additionally, showing playlists in a channel would be really valuable

Fully featured channel pages with

Description Playlists tab Local search External links Related channels etc.

Can't look through playlists of certain channels without necessarily searching them.

That's one of the basic YouTube UI features.

It will be much more convenient to use channel pages.

Coming from Vanced, the full use of the channel page is sorely missed. A tab to show a channel's playlists and searching within a channel are must-haves.

Maybe a good solution would be to have a button to switch to browser view.

To work on this issue, where should the button be placed? From what I understand, NewPipe uses a couple of templates. For example, the channel and history are very similar. Maybe it could be something you swipe to, like between a video's comments and description?

No, I'm talking about just the Playlists on the channel page.

In that case, just to be clear, there won't be just one "button". You could install the test APK from #3201 and see how the tabbed interface was implemented. Not just playlists, but several other tabs on the channel page can and should be extracted at the same time.

Oh, ok. I didn't see that, it was just a suggestion (I may take a look at it, especially as it seems that tabs are implemented already, and I'll just have to extend it).

Hi guys,

First of all thank you so much for making this great app available. Next I would really like to understand what is missing to close this topic? the issue 9569 was closed in favor of this one, and the first is already 6 months old, while this one is 4 years old :( but it seems a PR is done but not merged! Every since Youtube decided to change their page, the user experience has been severely downgraded, but this app is awesome, The users are begging for this development to be finished imho. What are your plans regarding this?

If it were done, it would have been merged. So, it's not done. Cross your fingers and wait, if that's your thing. Keep some popcorn ready.

I am interested too. This feature is very long awaited one. I wish it be released so I could recommend the app to my friedns more often.

No if you are talking about YouTube, getting a channel email requires to be logged-in and probably to pass Google's antibot VM called BotGuard.

Hi, I downloaded a release NewPipe channel tabs last year, I think it was a release from a branch, but I can't find anymore. Since the extractor had to be updated meanwhile, it doesn't work reliably now.

When will this support for channel tabs be included in the standard releases?
