Unfinished Downloads Disappearing From Downloads List

Steps to reproduce the bug

Start a video download
Observe the item in progress in the "Downloads" list.
Close/stop the app in any way
Open the app
Open the "Downloads" list, see the item is gone

Actual behavior

Since at least the most recent update, I have noticed that partially/non-completed download items are disappearing from the downloads list if the app is an any way stopped or interrupted - manually closed, times out in the background, etc - before they are done. In all previous versions, if you were trying to download something, and you closed the app before it was done I've been regardless as to whether you manually post it or not I - when you opened it again, it would still be there in the downloads list and you could restart/re-queue it. (Note: it just remove the download listing, The partially downloaded file is still in the folder where it was started to save)

Expected behavior

All dowload items, finished and incomplete, should be in the download tab until manually removed

CONFIRMED!!! Actually some downloads are unfinished, they disappear from the Download list and there are unfinished files in the directory.

21.13 has same bug . at Motog4 , Android 8.1

For frequent downloader , v21.8 is the last version without download problem. i ve been using it on unstable wifi for 1 year. no downloader issue. :) İ deleted new version reinstalled this one.

also people , who discovered the newpipe after the bug [ 21.9 , 21.14 ] and using affected versions , might think newpipe cannot resume downloads . That is not true. They need to be warned.

I am happily using v21.8 . and dont expect anyFix . Just want to warn my fellow downloaders

Edit: v21.8 Can't watch or download video. 😔 Youtube changed json results. .

v21.8 was the last version without this problem and I was using that for this reason since recent break down. Please fix it or remove the "downloader" word from this crqp..

Newpipe 0.22.2 has same bug! Android 11, Redmi Note 8

There is a strange problem with some video files from YT. The downloaded file in the place where originally something is shown is unchanged as if in a loop although the sound is OK. In the original YT application there is no such problem. Moreover, when the VLC player plays such a file to the end of the original time it continues to play this "looped" video significantly exceeding the original duration. Presumably the strange download occurs when there is a stop download, then I pause the download and then resume. This is mainly when I notice the strange problem.

Sadly still there with version 0.23.0 Hope this gets addressed as soon as possible.

I confirm this happens on version 0.23.0 running both on Android 12 and Android 10 Go

For me, it gets stuck at 99.x% first, and then I have to pause and resume again to fully finish it

I am seeing this happen in the current release 0.24.1. In my case I am adding items to the playlist will on mobile cellular data (metered connection) so that when I go to town the list will get downloaded on free Wi-Fi (unmetered data), but if I use too many other apps in between all the pending downloads just disappear and are not displayed in the downloads list in NewPipe.

This also occurs for me in 0.24.1:

download a file
pause it
while downloading, go to Settings → Download and turn on "interrupt on metered networks"
go to list of “Downloads”

(it may occure also while downloading isn't paused)

Behavior: list of downloads refreshes without the paused download

The underlying mechanism might be the same as when closing the app, then.

This bug is really irritating. Does someone have a way to circumvent it, or a different app that can hold a download queue without forgetting it?

I stopped using this altogether, currently using https://github.com/JunkFood02/Seal

Same issue until today. I have to say that I am disappointed that such a "simple" Task can not be archived, why does ytdl work but this does not...?
