As you know Youtube is blocked in some countries: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censorship_of_YouTube So please add proxy support (Socks5). Will be great. Thank you very much.

It would be great to have this feature in NewPipe. With this feature we can then use TorServices app to route all traffic from NewPipe over tor using "127.0.0.1:9050" socks5 proxy settings. Newpipe over Orbot is also a great option but i find Orbot a bit sluggish.
With tor service running on my computer and socks proxy settings enabled in Firefox, invidious works perfectly fine. I have been accessing Youtube like this for a couple of months now. I never had to face any captcha. Invidious on tor bundled browser or FreeTube with tor proxy both are great options but again the experience is very sluggish.
Similarly, on android with TorServices running in background and socks proxy settings enabled in Kiwi Browser using San Proxy extension i can access invidious over tor very easily with no captchas in my way. Orbot as i have told is great but i find it slow sometimes. Using invidious on Tor Browser on android is also not a great option.
Using NewPipe with ProtonVpn brings a lot of captchas and its frustrating most of the times. So this doesn't works for me.
So, i think in NewPipe, with Invidious Api Backend and Socks settings we can access Youtube over Tor network with No Captchas. Thus we should try out Tor proxy settings in NewPipe.

I would love to see this being made, I am currently in a huge need of socks5 support.

vukitoso commented 1 year ago

I also support adding socks5 functionality

I know someone brings up the Orbot's app only VPN mode, but for my testing and 2dust's testing for V2ray, using http proxy in app will use less battery and less memory.

I understand that this is an old issue, and NewPipe is under a rewrite state, but it will be great to implement this.

Definitely an upvote for app level http proxy configuration in NewPipe.
