Root install updates through Manager reset configs

Please describe the problem you are having in as much detail as possible: I use the root installation method with Magisk root. Every time an update releases for Vanced or Vanced Music and I install it through the Manager, all my settings/config gets reset. I have to reconfigure my layout settings, ad settings, sponsor block options, etc.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Be on root installation mode and have the app installed
2. Change something in YouTube Vanced/Vanced Music settings
3. Recieve notice of an update to YouTube Vanced/Vanced Music
4. Click the update button and wait
5. Open the App and see your setting change is gone

I can confirm this, I'm on a pixel 4a with rooted lineage.

I chewed through my mobile data because my background play settings reset and it kept playing all night
