adb sideload not loading - davinci

[y] I am running the latest version of TWRP

[y] I have searched for my issue and it does not already exist

davinci: 3.6.1_9-0:

whenever i select adb sideboot in twrp it will always hang indefinitely on "starting adb sideload feature", on the latest official release and the ~5 other official releases i tried (most of them) as well as the latest mauronofrio unofficial twrp for this device. I have tried fastboot erase recovery to no avail. any help would be appreciated

Accidentally saw a message, everything works fine for me (also davinci), probably worth checking ADB on the computer

adb definitely works fine, it seems to be an issue on the device, no matter what recovery i try it just can't load adb sideload mode
