"extracttarfork() process ended with error 255" when trying to restore data partiton on Sony Xperia 10 Plus

• [x] I have searched for my issue and it does not already exist

Device codename: I4293 TWRP version: 3.7.0_9

WHAT STEPS WILL REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM?

As the title reads I continually receive this error only when trying to restore a backup of the DATA partition. Boot, system and system image all claim to restore fine individually but are pointless without data. #### WHAT IS THE EXPECTED RESULT? Should restore without errors since the backup was created with the same version of TWRP and is being applied to the same version of ROM. #### WHAT HAPPENS INSTEAD? "extracttarfork() process ended with error 255" #### ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

/tmp/recovery.log: dmesg: Not able to provide as the error corrupts the install of the ROM and the device then boots back into TWRP when rebooted.

In case you missed it, I'm unable to recover the data to my device..... The TWRP backup function is broken.

Wow....

Lesson learned. Don't ever depend on twrp for backups since it's terribly broken and you will lose all data while receiving zero support.
