[Feature request] Allow to store .twrp on external_sd if available when data cannot be decrypted #314

Open bege10 opened 1 year ago

bege10 commented 1 year ago

Device codename: FP3 TWRP version: 3.7.0._9

WHAT STEPS WILL REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM?

In TWRP branch 9 data cannot be decrypted. Thus TWRP cannot read the stored settings from there.

WHAT IS THE EXPECTED RESULT?

Set TWRP settings - boot to recovery - TWRP starts with these settings.

WHAT HAPPENS INSTEAD?

Settings must be set again every time

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This currently is the natural behavior - though very uncomfortable - because TWRP cannot read the settings from encrypted data.

Maybe a workaound:
Someone (Chaosmaster) has build a Android 12 based TWRP for FP3, which can decrypt data.

P.S.
To me it looks like "Chaosmaster" is the official maintainer from TWRP.
So the build is probably trustworthy and there's hope it will be merged upstream :-)
