Some form of superscript footnote would allow post authors to include extra information in context to give more advanced readers the option and direction of further study, while keeping the article concise and directed for players that aren't well versed in TMC. I suggest something in the style of Wikipedia's footnote links or https://what-if.xkcd.com/ 's hover footnotes.

I think that this is worthy of being added to the style guide instead of being a feature added to the editor itself. The editor does have super and subscript. I'm not sure what exactly needs to be done here. Can you convince me otherwise?
