What You'll Do (Job Description)

• Design, build, document and maintain web applications working with industry-standard front-end stacks.
• Collaborate with management, artists other developers to design and create new features.
• Improve performance and fix bugs in our consumer facing applications.

What You Need to Be Successful (Skills)

Must Have

• 3+ years experience with web development.
• Highly fluent in Javascript, CSS, and HTML, including all the latest and emerging fancy standards.
• Worked with React (although we’ll also accept ample experience with similar front-end frameworks.)
• Know about build tools, preprocessors, and other various toolchains; and you can talk about their pros/cons.
• Have a portfolio with previous web apps you’ve built.
• Good attention to detail when it comes to UX/UI, and strive to make attractive interfaces (but you don’t have to be a graphic design wizard).

Nice to Have

• Worked with and enjoyed the Java language and platform.
• Created unit tests, ideally using standard test suites (e.g. Mocha, Ava, Karma, Jasmine, or better).
• Experience with TDD.
• Some experience in using IaaS or PaaS like AWS, Google Cloud, Heroku, GAE, etc.

About Our company

Highmark Interactive (HMI) is developing software to improve the function of injured and non-injured brains. Our current products allow athletes, trainers, and doctors to make data-driven decisions to diagnose, treat and monitor concussions. Concussions affect hundreds of thousands of people every year but we currently know very little about them. Diagnosis and treatment is largely subjective. At HMI, we are in a position to change this: by developing products that are easily accessible to thousands of athletes and that have the ability to collect quantitative data, we intend to give athletes, trainers and doctors the ability to make informed, data-driven decisions about diagnosis and treatment so athletes and clinicians alike can perform at the top of their game.
