What You'll Do (Job Description)

We are looking for a Front-end Web Developer with 2+ years of experience to join our small but mighty developer team. As our Front-end Web Developer, you are responsible for taking ownership of the front end development of our web applications and integrating them with back-end systems and APIs. As a key member of a cross-functional team, clear and effective communication is paramount. You will be working closely with our marketing and education team to implement new features and pages on our website, internal software applications, and external micro-sites. Regardless of the technology or tools that you use, shipping things quickly, and constantly iterating to make the product and codebase better.

Front-end development can mean many things, given the conflated nature of the term. In this case, we’re looking for someone who is very strong in HTML and CSS, responsive design, and has good taste and experience with UI/UX ideally. If you have minimal experience with React, or even JS in general, you should still apply. We have many developers who are well versed in JavaScript, and education/mentorship is our forte. We want you to grow, and can provide that mentorship environment.

• Embedded Ruby (ERB)
• Node/Express
• Embedded Javascript (EJS)
• SCSS
• React
• jQuery
• Bootstrap, Zend Foundation, and Bourbon/Neat
• Webpack, Babel and ES6
• Heroku / AWS / DigitalOcean

Note: This is not a list of technologies that you need to have experience with. We understand that there, as developers, we are constantly learning new libraries and frameworks.

Must Have

• You have at least 2 years of front-end software development work experience, and ideally have built products in a startup environment
• You are opinionated in a SCSS/CSS strategy in regards to maintainability and efficiency, have encountered terms like BEM
• You take pride in creating products that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing
• You have an incredible eye for detail (pixel perfection) and user experience.
• You have experience taking ownership and shipping entire features
• You should be comfortable creating responsive designs and doing cross browser testing
• You thrive on solving complex problems with logical, well-reasoned solutions

Nice to Have

• Experience working with Ruby on Rails
• Experience working with React
• Experience working with Wordpress
