What You'll Do (Job Description)

We are currently seeking a UI/UX designer who can think outside the box to design and improve the experience for thousands of students and businesses who use the marketplace monthly.

You will report to the Lead Engineer and the Product Manager working on product at GenM. This is a full stack position on a relatively greenfield project that can immediately add business value in an area of the business that is critical to growth.

The brief is to design and wireframe the tooling we need to improve product for our users. This person will gather requirements, define the technical architecture, implement it and report back what opportunities we are missing. You will be given a great deal of autonomy and the support to make this role a success.

What You Need to Be Successful

Apply your design superpowers (required) to navigating complex interaction design problems. You will jump between product, marketing, internal tools, process — participating in every phase from inception to implementation.
Be the cause of customer delight. As lead designer, your work will directly and meaningfully impact our member experience. You must always be shipping -- move quickly and create beautiful designs, experiences, flows, prototypes, and visuals. Work with engineering to ensure high quality implementations.
Accelerate your learning as a maker. No matter how much you bring to the table. Balancing vision, craft and business sense is no small feat, you’ll have a chance to level up -- zero boredom.

Must Have

Experience with modern design tools (Sketch, After Effects, Adobe Premier),
Knowledge using wire-framing tools (InVision, Marvel),
Experience working with a development team.

GenM Inc. is a tech startup that has created a platform marketplace for students and businesses to connect via remote digital apprenticeships. GenM connects students who are looking for work experience, with vetted business owners looking for help with digital marketing.

In GenM, student apprentices volunteer time working remotely for their business mentor. In exchange, the mentor volunteers time to provide feedback and guidance to their apprentice. GenM also offers free micro-learning programs and courses for students.
