What You'll Do (Job Description)

As a manager of the Cloud Infrastructure team, you will be a strategic technology partner collaborating with various groups ensuring that the production systems, services, and infrastructure work reliably and securely. In this role, you will report to the Head of Cloud Operations Department and work in close relationship with other leaders within the department.

Build, lead, and mentor a talented team of engineers to execute on projects, always-up availability initiatives and day to day operations
Ruthlessly eliminate repetitive manual tasks and recurring errors
Maintain & define key metrics to measure customer experience & system performance
Cultivate a safe work culture that inspires individual decision-making and innovation
Coach for frequent and effective feedback among team members
Lead adoption of new tools and more sophisticated continuous delivery methods
Play an active role in defining the overall architecture of our AWS systems
Take responsibility for security and disaster recovery of our infrastructure

What You Need to Be Successful (Skills)

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

Has 3+ years of experience leading a technical team
Has a deep understanding of the current state and future trends in modern cloud technologies, DevOps and continuous delivery tools
Experienced with container orchestration tools and service meshes (Nomad, Consul, Kubernetes, Istio)
Loves eliminating repetitive manual tasks through automation
Passionate about management, coaching, and creating opportunities to support your directs' success.
Your leadership style makes space for multiple senior engineers and supports the growth of everyone on your team to keep pace with rapid change
Can both develop a vision and lead execution
Values open communication

Must Have

Strong technical experience with AWS
Experienced leading an Operations team

Relevant Experiences

Recognized for your leadership and mentoring of technology teams
Experienced with AWS cloud infrastructure industry best approaches
In-depth knowledge of various AWS technologies and best practices. Including but not limited to - AWS networking, security best practices, XaaS and more
Experienced with container hosting and orchestration services
Known for your strategic, innovative, systematic thinking and ability to help others through change
Noted for the way you challenge conventional thinking, having a critical eye and a strong focus on problem-solving regarding process and technologies
With a real passion for new technologies
With a proven understanding of Agile/Lean leadership principles; proficient in agile team development as well as awareness of team training opportunities
Working knowledge of CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, Bamboo, etc
Collaboration is in your DNA. You enjoy contributing to a mutual cause, that is why you know when the team succeeds, you succeed
You possess strong communication skills and an ability to approach problems in a structured way and distill complex issues into actionable insights
