LWOTC has 3 consumable items
These are "Fine" in WOTC, because you get corpses almost everywhere, but this problem dashes itself against the wall when you have next to no corpses and you have to run many, many missions, the demand completely outstrips the supply.
The three are following
1) Sustain Sphere
Aka, fail at playing the game and expect to fail again and enjoy like month time long injury timer, this item is even shittier in LWOTC because second heart PCS exists, while not being exactly guaranteed, is a permament item, even if its garbage tier PCS.
2) Refraction Field
On demand reconcealment is great, but the Spectre corpse requirement is what kills this...especially when Ghost Grenades exists (Reapers/Grenadiers), that are infinite (well, as in, they recharge at the start of each mission).
3) Berserker Serum
Aside from Berserkers having very specific spawn missions (That are full salvage), you have the serum, which is also a good item, if it werent for it going puff once you use it. You might as well make the hellweave vest which has massive health boosts and adds burn reflect damage.
I propose 3 solutions, people might chip here if they have something too.
A) Make them batch produced, corpse will produce more than 1 item.
Ie, 1 Spectre will give you 3 refraction fields
This option still respects how powerful 2 and 3 can be, but is slightly more considerate that Long War is about running more missions than WOTC.
B) Make them permament items, but rework them
In Mod Jam (here we go again, actually improving LWOTC balancing), Overdrive Serum is no longer a consumable, but the effects are slightly weaker (You dont gain insane armor from it). But the item is reusable and still great for the momentary mental immunity, but most importantly, the mobility boost is still there, making it perfect for Rangers, Assaults and other classes that could use it to flank or get close across larger distances.
About refraction field, i dont know what would happen, but if it could give Shadow to the user (even a non reaper), then it would be quite interesting, short lasting stealth (given shadow is limited in its duration), but the refraction field is reusable once the mission is over.
Sustain sphere simply has to not go away once activated, this item sole existence is to prevent one shots, the injury timer is a punishment on its own already. I dont know, maybe you could butter up this item more for being such a low tier item with injury timer reduction to the user or something...
C) Both
Sustain sphere should be permanent items.
Refration field would give Shadow, but are consumables, but you more than 1 of them with every Spectre corpse
Berserker Serum should be reworked to give less armor, but is mass made.
