Self-destructing photos #615

When people send me self-destruct photos, even when I click on it, I am unable to view the photos. It comes out blurry. I have another telegram acct on the same phone which has no issues. Only 1 specific acct has issues viewing disappearing photos. Normal photos are fine.

is this a recent problem ? when did you first encounter it ? an identical report has been submited here relating to version 8.8.1 (2700) ~ 8.8.3 (2705) :

Incoming disappearing media with timer is blurry

your report suggests that this may be a serverside problem that only affects the tandroid client, rather than a client problem (though telegram may decide to only fix it clientside, in which case all current tandroid clients will be screwed)

quoting telegram's admin dog :

Problem is when you receive the temporal media on the main Android app. It doesn't matter from which app you send it.

but what if it were the opposite ? @wizzofozz123 whoever sending you those self-destruct photos, are they using Telegram for Android app v8.8.x ?

premise:

I have 2 phones (1 & 2). I have 2 tele accounts (A & B)

Phone 1: Has accounts A and B Phone 2: Has account B

First noticed the issue happening on Phone 1, account B, two days later, Phone 2, account B as well. However, Phone 1 account A has no issue.

I can use Account A to msg Account B on the same phone and Account B will not be able to view. However, if I sent it from B to A, I can view it. So this afflicts only account B across 2 phones.

did you try only tg-foss 8.7.4 ? could you try with telegram app as well : https://telegram.org/dl/android/apk

I'm currently on Android v8.8.2 (2702).

am i understanding correctly that you're using official telegram app and not telegram-foss ? this issue tracker is only for telegram-foss

in that case the problem you're experiencing is reported here https://bugs.telegram.org/c/18201

telegram-foss 8.8.2 does not existt yet :/

Yeah, i mean I'm on telegram-foss on Phone 1, official app on the other phone. Sorry for confusion.

could you translate this part to add app versions ?

I can use Account A [app version?] to msg Account B [app version?] on the same phone [app version?] and Account B will not be able to view.

this above would only match the report description if messages received by account B are on v8.8.2

if you are sure that RECEIVING self-destructing media on 8.7.4 (that are SENT from 8.8.2) is also problematic, send a comment to the card linked above
