A side-view train / locomotive #5475

There are a lot of vehicle icons available from the side (car, bus, truck, bike). But not of a train. The only icon 3 icons with "train", of which two look more like a bus and 1 like a tram, are in front view. Some examples of what I mean below:

I tried these two. Feel free to edit them (svg in attachment).

Hi artcad, Looking good. The second one with 3 wheels is better imho. The only thing that might look better is to put the front bumper (or whatever it's called in english) sligthly to the front? But it can also look like a bit like a bulldozer on small sizes so I made a version with a big wheel.

I don't know how to edit svg, so I made a crude example in Photoshop. Wasn't sure if the 3px padding was needed.

It would be cool if any modern locomotive designs could match to the train cars in #5493 and #5543. A steam locomotive might be unique enough it doesn't need to match.

Here's two additional train engines. train-subway train-freight train-freight-and-subway.zip

But steam locomotive is easy to recognize the trasportation type.

These are all on the right track but need some work before they're ready to be included. Moving to the backlog.

osswald commented 2 years ago

an electric train from the side would be helpful too

We recently added a whole lot of train cars, so having some engines would make logical sense. However, all the proposals here still need more work before anything is ready.

All the engines here look too squished in the horizontal space. I suggest whoever wishes to tackle these to take a look at the train cars and line them up with those in terms of proportions. Once we get some updated proposals, we can reconsider this.
