Project #107

Dear mr. Andrews. My name is Mark and I am attending the university of Copenhagen, computer science line. I am working on a project for a class with a friend, where we are developing a management system for a newly started company. We have been using your icon designs from http://modernuiicons.com/ which we both think are amazingly good and fits moden day design. But even though we have been able to use some of them as they are, we were also forced to create our own icons to match what we needed (such as an "Invoice" and "Support Ticket icon). But niether of us are designers and are not skilled with photoshop or other photo software, and therefore many of the icons we have created are of very bad quality (and low imagination).

We were wondering if we could convince you to help us with the design of the icons?

Regards Mark Wulff mark.wulff1105[@]gmail[.]com (edit: just to keep back spam)

This is probably one of the more formal icon requests. Ha.

If you could list out every icon you need I will try and add them.

appbar.invoice appbar.bug.ticket etc...

lance1105 commented 11 years ago

Sure :)

Will you also need the "context" of each icon (by this I mean like, the function/definition of a "support ticket")?

lance1105 commented 11 years ago

And would you also see our the current icons we have?

Templarian commented 11 years ago

Context, metaphor, or an example image for each icon.

Sure I can look over what you have now and see if I can match anything better. Crop a screenshot of your appbar(s) and attach them to your comment.

lance1105 commented 11 years ago

Alright then. I am working on it and you should have it by the end of tomorrow.

We are working for a company called SolidPCService, who are offering IT support on both soft- and hardware. They want the design of the system to contain icons as buttons. We have tried to meet their wish, but designing icons (both to imagine and create) is very difficult. Also, you will see that the icons we have created have very "rugged" edges, which is also a bit unapealing...

What we need:

Support Tickets. When a customer calls SolidPCService, it is like a hotline where the supporter will try to help you solve your problem over the phone. (Here we are currently using your "appbar.page.text" as a support ticket) appbar.support.ticket appbar.support.ticket.create appbar.support.ticket.modify appbar.support.ticket.search

Tasks. A task is when a technician has a job with a specific customer, such as going to a customer's home to repair a computer. (Here we are currently using a merge between your "appbar.clipboard" and "appbar.checkmark") appbar.task appbar.task.create appbar.task.modify appbar.task.search

Workshop Tickets: When a technician is performing a repair or other service, he has to log a workshop ticket cornserning the work he is performing (diagnosis, actions..) (Here we are currently using a merge between your "appbar.page" and "appbar.tools") appbar.workshop.ticket appbar.workshop.ticket.create appbar.workshop.ticket.modify appbar.workshop.ticket.search

Informal Offer: A technician is able to give the customer an informal offer, a "special price" if you will, on the solution to the customers problem. (Here we are currently using a merge between "appbar.currency.dollar" and "appbar.page") (we have a problem with "informal offer" and "invoice" looking too alike) appbar.informaloffer appbar.informaloffer.create appber.informaloffer.modify appbar.informaloffer.search

Invoice: A bill presented to the customer upon completion of a job. (Here we are currently using a merge between "appbar.layout.sidebar" and "appber.currency.dollar") appbar.invoice appbar.invoice.create appbar.invoice.modify appbar.invoice.search

State: A state is used in accordance with a workshop ticket or a task (a state could be something like "created", "re-assigned", "closed", ...) (Here we are currently using a merge between "appbar.page" and "appbar.location", but we have no idea how to potray this...) appbar.state appbar.state.workshop.ticket.create appbar.state.task.create

customers: (Here we are using your "appbar.people") appbar.people.add

Smiley: appbar.smiley.neutral

Then there are also other icons we use from you, like "appbar.eye", "appbar.save" or "appbar.magnify", but they are perfect.

(Also, the screenshot you see is just to give you an overview of the icons in the system, I can also send you a folder with the .png files)

I think this is what we need. If you have any great ideas regarding the design of an icon feel free to create it according to your imagination. (It can only be better than what we have created) If you don't have any ideas on how to change the design, we would like if you could "brush up", the current design so the rugged edges disappears. iconstemp1 iconstemp2

Any questions or requests, etc., feel free to comment back anything :)

lance1105 commented 11 years ago

Have you had a chance to take a look at the icons yet? :)

Templarian commented 11 years ago

Started to add the clipboard ones. Been busy (friend's visiting) and I had a few paid icons to do.

Should have time Wednesday hopefully.

Templarian commented 11 years ago

This may take longer than predicted. Just got a new client today for icon work). Wanted to give you a heads up I'm going to be very busy (think like 50 icons with revisions).

lance1105 commented 11 years ago

it's alright, we are not in a big rush atm. But when you have time.
