I would like to build and use this for Python 2.6. I've not used Make before. 
Can I get the patch and be pointed at some instructions to build it for my 
Linux (ubuntu 10.04) system?

Looks like i forgot to attach patch file..
Put patch file in unpacked source directory, type patch < Makefile.patch
type python setup.py install

 Report if you get any problems.
