Lush Desert is categorized as 'beach' or 'ocean,' messing with mod compatibility

I noticed that the Lush Desert biome was generating salty sand from Sandwichable in my survival world, when salty sand is not supposed to generate in deserts, and reported it to Sandwichable's devs here. They said that their salty sand generates in biomes categorized as beach or ocean biomes. This means that the Lush Desert is considered one of these, and so I wanted to ask if this, and its consequences for compatibility with mods that add things to biomes with these categories, are intended.

This also affects Fluid Physics, which, by default, adds the lush desert to its list of ocean biomes in which water can form infinite water sources.
