Paragraph to add for SIP new group: The Statutory Infrastructure Provider (SIP) data groups listed in the Communications section of the catalogue contain information prepared by telecommunications carriers for inclusion on the SIP register maintained by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) in accordance with Part 19 of the Telecommunications Act 1997 (the Act).

Carriers must give the ACMA geospatial information about areas where they are under contract for or have completed the installation of telecommunications network infrastructure. Once a carrier declares that it has completed the installation of network infrastructure in an area, it becomes the SIP for that area. Geospatial information about SIP areas is available for download in the MapInfo TAB vector format. Associated carrier notices and declarations may also be available for download in PDF format. This information is updated as new or revised information is supplied by carriers.

While the ACMA makes every effort to make sure that the information contained in the SIP data groups is up to date, we cannot guarantee its accuracy, currency or completeness. Please direct any queries regarding the SIP data to sip@acma.gov.au.
