It seems that there is no easy solution to integrate the new ABS datasets. Some dev effort is needed.

We already have a group ABS.Stat (beta) https://nationalmap.gov.au/#share=s-lLFVebWd8S0p6wtYNSnELpb8Mz6. Should we just update them for 2023 release or add a completely new group?

mwu2018 commented 11 months ago

After my initial investigation, it seems that the existing ABS.Stat (beta) in the catalog will automatically load the latest items published by ABS. There are a few special aspects in this catalog group:

AnaBelgun commented 11 months ago

Thank you @mwu2018 is it possible to list few examples under each of those points please?

Take the ERP (Estimated Resident Population) of NSW in 2022 as example.

The DBR by ABS has the following entry. https://dbr.abs.gov.au/region.html?lyr=ste&rgn=1, where it shows the number of persons is 8 156 386 by 30/06/2022.

The national map ABS.Stat (beta) has a few entries.

Both DBR and ABS.Stat (beta) draw data from the same sources but organise the presentation in different ways.

The National Map gets region mapping data from terria vector tile service but sometimes will get 404 (data not found error) , e.g. https://vector-tiles.terria.io/FID_RA_2011_AUST/2/3/1.pbf.
