Untangle Application! #240

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

I would love to see an application for the open source project called Untangle.

Untangle is a firewall/router distro similar to Smoothwall, M0n0wall, etc.
it however seems to be much more widely used and provide a larger array of
features.

Information on it can be found here: http://www.untangle.com/

To recap our email discussion, for posterity:

From PeerBlock's perspective, there are a number of issues regarding
integration with
Untangle. First off is that Untangle appears to be Linux-based, while we have
no
Linux version of PeerBlock yet. Next is that their API is Java based, which
would
require either for us to rewrite PeerBlock as a Java app (not gonna happen), or
else
create a "shim" Java app that can integrate with our "real" code . . . which
would
still likely need to be heavily modified to work with it.

So, point being, I really don't see this happening. Definitely not anytime
soon.
Once we create a Linux version of PeerBlock (Issue #175), if any Java developers
would be interested in working with us to devise some kind of integration
scheme I'd
love to hear from you!
