Missing Roads projects #27

Summary

In an effort to improve the navigability in cities across North America, the Lyft OSM Data Curation Team is undertaking efforts to add valuable information such as missing roads and fix outdated info about exist ways in OSM. The missing features are identified algorithmically and validated using various sources of ground truth info (please see below)

Projects documentation

Missing Roads and Directionality

Highway Type on Ways

Street Names

Features Mapped

Ways & Nodes

Ways

Nodes

Optional tags (we do not add these tags to the OSM in this group of projects, we change the values only if these tags already applied to the road segment, and changed geometry without tag update can cause issues)

Quality Control

To keep the quality of our map edits at a high level of accuracy, we apply a quality control (QC) process on 100% of tasks. Each task will be QCed before being published to OSM. Our QCers are checking the logic of the adding/modifying objects. If the curator accidentally added wrong or unnecessary tags, values or make inaccurate fix of the geometry, the task will be returned to the curator to correct it based on the QCer’s comment.

**Ground Truth Resources***

OSM changesets will be submitted abiding by the OSM Changeset Guidelines. *Additional resources used in curating and QCing this project can be found in our Resources Wiki

Hello, it seems that Lyft aren't uploading buildings. Obviously OSMs buildings aren't something Lyft are interested in, and that's fine, but it seems none uploaded buildings are being used map covered roads, eg w994845616 from 112731999.

I guess there are 2 possibilities:

  1. Buildings are filtered out of Lyft uploads.
  2. There are no buildings, mappers are cutting ways without them.

If it's 1, is there any documentation on the decision/could I convince you to start uploading them? If it's 2, It seems like it would just be easier to trace and upload the buildings.

Bonus point, this is clearly a fuel station. Has Lyft considered mapping them when they see them?
