TT Crops #482

So far, so good. Although, I haven't gone too deep into yet....one suggestion:

When a crop is planted, you can see the aspects in the crop with the googles, but you cannot read the aspects imbued in the soil because the crop obscures it. You have to break the crop or break the block besides the tilled block to see what the soil is imbued with.

Is it possible, when looking at crops, to also give a secondary reading of the soil aspects?

No. Thaumcraft API doesn't allow for it.

Actually, YES, but with a caveat. (At least, with TT build 160.) If there's an empty space next to the imbued soil block, then looking at the SIDE of the soil block (instead of at the top, where the seeds are planted) will show you the aspects in the soil, even when there's a crop planted on top (when using goggles/thaumometer or equivalent).

However, this requires putting ditches between every two rows of soil or regularly spaced holes all through your garden, which is less than aesthetically pleasing and can interfere with tendency spread - as well as giving you gaps to jump over/walk around just to cross the garden. The most space-efficient arrangement of holes is placing them a "knight's move" away from each other (two over, one down), which reduces the number of holes needed to view at least one side of all soil blocks to 1/5 of the total garden area. (Just like the most compact arrangement for a reed farm with regularly spaced water pits.)
