Skeletons are somewhat expensive. Skeleton horses, much more costly, but also more durable, faster, and will allow a skeleton warrior to ride them. Skeleton horses are bound to the first skeleton to ride them, unless that warrior dies, in which case another is allowed to. They can also carry some cargo (chest renders in the middle of the skeleton maybe?) and armored. In combat they bite for a small amount of damage, but the ability to run around and let the skeleton do some mounted combat and take a share of the damage for the skeleton may be neat.
