Craft armor and weapon ideas #746

I'm thinking of making the crafting skills actually useful here. Some ideas I have:

Item socketing If you have the sufficient amount of craft weapon/armor, you can socket a gem into a weapon or armor. Makes gems useful instead of just for selling.

Removing a gem destroys it unless you have high enough craft X, in which case you can remove it safely.

Certain items can have two sockets, such as 2h weapons and double sided weapons to serve as a counter to 1h shield / dual wield.

The bonuses should be added as temporary item properties that never disappear until removed so it doesn't effect ILR and goes away cleanly.

Item crafting For both craft armor and craft weapon, we can add recipes to craft some magic gear based on some junk items found. Has to be done in a way where this isn't the most viable way to gear (unless the ingredients are ultra rare), but can serve as a nice bonus or alternative.

Item upgrading Could be good to add a path to upgrade some items. For example, turning a regular longsword into a High Quality version.

Or a +1 longsword to a +2, etc.
