Agreed that this is too high.
1d6 acid +1 acid dmg per clvl?
Formian queen is level 12, so the spell deals 25 to 30 damage per melee hit.
Idea: give her elemental shield instead of acid sheath Idea: add some elemental protection potions for purchase at Lith. Could also feed these to henchmen, I believe..(?) Idea: add acid resistance to Drow Piwafi Cloak.
The cloak is pretty uninteresting compared to Cloak of Arachnida, though both are available for purchase as Lith. Drow cloak gives +2 AC and web immunity, while Arachnida cloak gives web immunity along with +3 to saves vs poisons. By the time you reach Lith you'll have plenty of sources of +2 deflection AC, so Arachnida is almost always superior (and less expensive). So why not make the Drow cloak more interesting, replace the useless AC boost with acid resistance and thus give it an actual (niche) use. How much resist? Not sure, but probably something like 15/- or 20/-
Does this thing need a nerf?
It puts out more damage than the majority of melee builds do unless you have a very strength stacky 2h build or some (fairly difficult to find) acid resist items. Add stoneskin (Formian) or multiple enemies with it (Araneas) and it gets even worse.
There are two places where you can run into it (Formian Queen and Araneas in the Wolfhilll Manor), and in both cases it does so much damage that the best solution for any melee characters is to not use a melee weapon. Henchmen unfortunately don't have that option, and additionally they get baited into attacking things by getting blocked or making AoOs and end up killing themselves even when you ask them to come back for 30 seconds.
I feel like >80% of the time I go to these places I have a frustrating experience with this, and the other 20% it goes smoothly with a ranged weapon.
As the guy who made the Formian Queen I'm a little unhappy with the state of that fight but at this point I don't really know what to do about it any more besides take this spell away from it and just not give it it to enemies.
