The repo owner of the SSPanel-UIM project is compromised, I wouldn't say too much on that since I don't want to dox her identity, but it's safe to say that you don't want to put that thing in your production environment.
NeXT Panel Pro Edition has removed most of the modules that are not written by me, and replaced by better and more secure implementation, so to say it's a rebranding is quite an understatement.
Thanks for explaining. I will wait for the Pro edition to be available and be the first to pay.
Read your blog. Please don't get upset with the open-source environment. I remember once shadowsocks-libev maintainer Mygod or madeye wasn't very convinced with an idea, then he said, “just fork it". No need to give a shit, and don't empower the arrogant idiots.
The Chinese internet community is somehow toxic. Breakwa11 scandal and incident was like yesterday. But hey, nice people maybe quiet, but still around.
And please protect your identity. Since you are getting paid publicly, it can make you an easy target for Chinese authorities.
Be safe, keep up the good work, and see you around! I’d love to see your works for many years to come.
Hi,
Thank you for being on the frontline fighting censorship.
I have been using the so-out-of-date shadowsocks-manager for proxy service for my friends and family. Now I am looking for a replacement.
I'd love to pay for the license (when NeXT-Panel Pro is publically available). However, I'd like to know the complications between SSPanel, SSPanel-UIM, and NeXT-Panel.
As far as I have learned, NeXT-Panel used to be SSPanel (successor of the original orvice/ss-panel), then rebranded as NeXT-Panel. SSPanel-UIM has been a very popular option for years, and the maintainer of NeXT-Panel used to contribute to SSPanel-UIM.
However, after reading the NeXT-Panel description, should I consider that SSPanel-UIM has no relationship with NeXT-Panel now and that the maintainers are different?
I am asking this because I am choosing a panel for the production environment that is meant to last for years (and I would love to pay for it).
For the record, years ago, I sponsored the ShadowsocksR project for a short while. Then, I paid for someone to fix a critical ss-manager bug in shadowsocks-libev (before shadowsocks-rust got matured). Then I sponsored shadowsocks-manager maintainer for a short while before his last couple of commits. I really hope the next project I'd love to pay for can last longer...
