Get an error with the version downloaded from github

Sounds like you're using an older version of Gnomenu from the extensions.gnome.org site and not the one in the Github master branch. A new release with the current master branch was uploaded to the extension.gnome.org site a couple of weeks ago, but, it is still under review.
