The Master Sword is a crafted weapon that does not take damage (to reflect the legendary nature of the blade). The Master Sword can utilize the medallions to create additional effects on attacking, by way of a single slot "Inventory" that can be accessed by Shift+Right-Clicking.

Ether: Striking an enemy with the Ether Medallion imbue causes a massive slowness and a lightning strike. Quake: Striking a block causes a "shockwave" centered on that block, dealing damage to all enemies touching the ground within a 3m range. Bombos: Spin attacks ignite enemies within a 3m range around the wielder.

The Master Sword cannot block by itself, but blocking can be accomplished if one of the shields is found in the hotbar.
