WS11WineCX64Bit22.1.1-5
That’s a very old Engine, use should be using one of the following Engines instead;
got SteamSetup.exe from Steam site
As per the wiki section you should be installong Steam via winetricks then manually selecting the executable.
-allosarches -cef-force-32bit -udpforce -noreactlogin
As explained above the wiki explains there’s no need to set launch arguments for Steam unless using some ancient Engine (not recommended)
-noreactlogin
hasn’t been a valid argument for almost a year at this point.
Unless you have software that doesn’t function on macOS Sonoma I’d recommend upgrading to gain access to D3DMetal Engines, this makes even more games playable.
ok, i'll try d3dmetal out when i update to sonoma.

i don't see a whole lot of info in the wiki about using the winetricks method, other than that it can be done.
is there a different place with full instructions? do i need the other 3 winetricks (vcrun2019, dsetup, dxvk1103)?
I just installed Sonoma and used WS11WineCX64Bit23.6.0_D3DMetal-v1.1. Of the three times I booted up Steam it has worked all 3 times so that's good. I haven't downloaded a game to try yet, though.
I also downloaded the dxvk1103 winetrick but I realized that the wiki says it isn't compatible. Nothing has broken yet though in the Steam menu... do you think it will break when I try an actual game? is it possible to uninstall dxvk, if needed?
And do I need vcrun2019, dsetup, or any other winetricks to run it better? (I know I don't need launch arguments but what about the other winetricks)
DXVK isn’t compatible with D3DMetals DXGI so it’s best to remake the wrapper.
Additional winetricks verbs very per game, some run without anything where others have very specific requirements.
ok i tried it out and it seems to work great, thanks for your help!
but do you know if there's a way to create a desktop shortcut for the game? i'm playing Tetris Effect: Connected and I successfully get a Tetris® Effect Connected.url
file but it doesn't work.
Environment (please complete the following information):
Describe the bug oftentimes, when I open Steam, i get a black screen. sometimes the black screen is of the login page and other times it is the home page. only occasionally steam actually loads.
To Reproduce Describe the steps to reproduce the behavior: e.g. got SteamSetup.exe from Steam site made wrapper with it installed Steam winetricks: vcrun2019, dsetup, dxvk1103 open steam "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -allosarches -cef-force-32bit -udpforce -noreactlogin can log in and do stuff, all normal i think i went to steam settings and disabled "open steam on system startup" or whatever, i dont remember the name quit steam reopen steam login page works as normal (i can see the part of loading user data) home page begins to load, can see some of the toolbar stuff, but not the steam website stuff yet home page becomes a completely black window with absolutely nothing there (except for 1 attempt out of 4 or 5 where it loaded)
Expected behavior Steam loads the home page
and ok i swear to god it worked twice in a row when i used "test run", and then it worked a third time when i did it without test run??? and then it failed to get past the login, and then it also failed in "test run" mode.
LastRunWine.log in this test run, it got through the login screen and failed to fully load the home page. Github complained that the body was too long, so here it is in a pastebin. https://pastebin.com/tdTutZLi
Additional context I read somewhere (forgot where) that the order of the flags mattered. So I reordered the flags in the app command to get what I have. And how can I make Steam more consistently load? Am I missing a winetrick? (I did not use the steam winetrick because i just used SteamSetup.exe, and i don't know how the winetrick way works)
