Torrentio down #288

Closed TheBeastLT closed 1 week ago

TheBeastLT commented 1 week ago

Due to some complaints torrentio's VPS was blocked and the addon will be down until a new hosting provider is found.

SnykyPyky commented 1 week ago

I hope you get a new host, stremio without torrentio is useless! I usually use torrentio to watch movies with my mother. Hugs and thanks for your work!

XEngine commented 1 week ago

Hey man, got a donation link?

lexmozli commented 1 week ago

Could you list the specs you're looking for? Perhaps we can help out with suggestions/providers.

dkirichev commented 1 week ago

Really missing Torrentio! Hope it’s back up soon – let us know if there's anything we can do to help! Love your work! <3

poleselfg commented 1 week ago

Good luck dude!

karolisbarkauskas commented 1 week ago

try zone.ee for hosting. Should work, they are decent about this stuff

T0XICGUI commented 1 week ago

Good luck man!

Do you have any documentation on self hosting this? Even a docker-compose file will be very helpful.

Just go to .github/workflows/deploy_addon.yml and you will see the steps to locally host it.

NamelessFan95 commented 1 week ago

I thought it was a problem of mine with str3mi0, hopefully it can be fixed x)

PS: I can't access the official torrent page :'(

This does not help for the databases or their migrations.

The problem with any new deployment is that lack of the original torrentio database. Without it, any new deployments will not have the large library history to return any substantial results.

mimta commented 1 week ago

I am more than happy to assist you with a new hosting provider. thanks

InfiniteRealm commented 1 week ago

What about IPFS / Web 3 decentralised hosting? Many of us would love to volunteer our contribution

dkravetz commented 1 week ago

I'm a DevOps engineer, feel free to reach out directly if you need any help with either setting up or finding a new provider that can work for this project

ramorimdias commented 1 week ago

Thanks for the heads up! Will follow his thread. Thank you for your work!

Yes correct. I saw the code and there are no insert into queries all of them are SELECT ones. But, I have managed to deploy the addons and catalogs and install it in stremio. Had to manually create the migration files though. But obviously there will not be any results.

So you know, if anyone needs the local setup steps, I will put it in this thread.

I agree with many reactions. A great loss. I wake up with it and I go to bed with it. I haven't watched standard TV for years. So your work has become a part of my life. So we are looking forward to the solution.

On behalf of me and my girlfriend, lots of strength and if a financial contribution leads to a solution. Then place a donation link such as PayPal, then we will help, and I can make a request to as many people in my circle as possible.

Lots of love and greetings Skip and Christien

Even with the local configuration, there isn’t a process to populate the database, right?

Yeah no, but I found a self hosted repo. Can try it out? https://github.com/knightcrawler-stremio/knightcrawler

Great how everyone thinks along. I am proud of you all.

This is my sums with thinking along.

I don't know what the required specs needed for this project, but I just happen to see a piece of text on it. Free hosting for the best stremio add-ons offered.

Why use a VPS instead of scrape on local device?

kaio-rama commented 1 week ago

Sorry to hear this, I really hope you guys come back soon, I know you will find a way. For those looking for an alternative for Stremio until this situation gets a solution I let you this courious link ... https://thepiratebay-plus.strem.fun/ TPB+ (The Pirate Bay addon)

I'd be careful with this addon for those who live in areas whom their ISPs issues DMCA notices, or at least use a VPN prior to streaming anything.

I used to use knightcrawler when it was first released, and even if you pre-loaded the RARBG database, it still was lacking compared to torrentio.

It's also been abandoned by most of the community in favor of Zilean which leverages DDM. The last post from the creator in the discord channel was posted back in July.

I tried FusionMedia and self hosted Annatar. Nothing compares to Torrentio.

NiteXXX commented 1 week ago

i never realized how lifeless my evenings are without Torrentio.

Darkhoudini commented 1 week ago

I know there's like 10 other solutions, but torrentio is a big part of my life. Thanks for the work man!

Nothing else worked for me, torrentio is the only thing that worked flawlessly.

rubenheymans commented 1 week ago

Please just set up a donation link so you can throw some more money at it to fix it

DISRUPTRAL commented 1 week ago

Absolutely devastated, your work has been my evenings with my girlfriend for almost a year. I've started reviewing movies and shows with this add-on. It's provided me endless hours of incredible content. I would love to donate if it helps, or just because. Thank you for all of your work.

GFMeM commented 1 week ago

This is really sad. Hope you can get it running soon :)

rchaud commented 1 week ago

Hopefully someone can get documentation to get this self hosted to avoid depending on others services.

TWO SAFE AND HOPEFULLY TEMPORARY ALTERNATIVES TO OUR BELOVED BLOCKED TORRENTIO:

The two comparable and safe Addon alternatives to the Torrentio link-aggregator are MediaFusion and Orion, because each of these link aggregators allow you to configure them using your subscription-based debrid scraped torrent provider (mine being "realdebrid") by inputting your unique debrid API token/key or by generating and inputting an Authorization Token which gets generated when this new Addon gets authorized by your debrid provider. Just like it was when you onboarded Torrentio, all instructions are right there on the Configure page.

(Note: Orion also requires you to sign up for a free subscription so that you have access to a required Orion API key which you'll need to input while on the Configure page.) IMG_5484

Orion doesnt work for me, im signed up api added, no streams found on anything i try.

rchaud commented 1 week ago

Annatar is the only that has worked for me but missing a lot of links that Torrentio had.

MediaFusion had links but missing a lot too. Well any elfhosted has a low rate limit to force you to buy it.

Orion was a no go, didnt get any links either, set account and configured real debrid and didnt work.

DISRUPTRAL commented 1 week ago

Currently using DMM as a workaround, working pretty flawlessly for me, but navigation is a little wonky

Cyyto32 commented 1 week ago

does anyone know when the addon will be online?

TheBeastLT commented 1 week ago

Addon has been moved to a new hosting provider, which will hopefully be more resilient.
