As reported on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/31320352/bootsfaces-selectmultimenu-does-not-render-correctly by Jasper de Vries, the <b:selectMultiMenu /> doesn't work if there's not b:dropDownMenu on the same page. The CSS and JS files of the drop down menu are required by the multiple choice combo box.
