Originally tried doing a migration of the entire repository off of lfs, but it kept leaving the tracked files in the wrong state even after migrating, while also making all histories unrelated (requiring force pushing). At some point we will remove the lfs tracking all together, but in the meantime this is already a better step by having source images and resources tracked as non lfs binary files. This means they will be included in downloads from the branches view of github (e.g. if someone goes to download dev or main).
