Install Directions for the Simple Minded Old Folk Who Know Nothing About Programming #57

Does anyone have instructions on how to install Imagus for Chrome users, other than the brief instructions where the most recent download files are? I'm from an era where we made butter in larger wooden churn barrels, brought horses in periodically to have their shoes replaced, and needed large blocks of ice to keep our perishables from rotting.

... and to be honest... Horrible things that they are, I still don't even own a television.

So, unlike the original version of Imagus that has long since been abandoned by its originator, it seems this newer version is created for those more technologically inclined... or at least know something about fiddling about with code and programming. It seems as if Imagus may have gone on to become like one of those unique old films that has gone on to develop a cult following.

If indeed Imagus has now moved into a realm where only those who have more background in such thing has occurred so be it. Just let me know and if possible put a statement to that effect in the instructions so those like myself won't try to wrack what is left of our rattled old brains attempting to install it. It's a terrible shame the developer has abandoned it, as Imagus even in it's somewhat chaotic yet more exclusive state is still far far superior than anything else I've tried to replace it with.

I am running Vivaldi a Chrome based browser on an ancient Pre-Napoleonic era iMac using Catalina. Thus unfortunately, the brief few sentences regarding installing this miracle extension are as good as ancient Greek to me, especially since I can find no relationship to what they explain to what needs to be done.

Download imagus mod pack Go to chrome://extensions in your browser Tap developer toggle on See buttons load/zip/crx Open downloaded imagus mod pack from the button It's installed. Now toggle developer off Go to imagus mod settings, toggle it on if not already Click details of the mod Scroll a bit down Click extension options

Remember to save if you change those options. Don't worry, as you use imagus you'll likely to fine tune imagus settings few times to get it perfect for you

Update imagus sieve

Read the instructions on the mod page

-----------------------~ If you want to you can first try the old imagus from chrome extension store to look around chrome://extensions and imagus settings

Remember to remove the old before starting to use the new

If you unpacked the new mod to a folder choose (dev option) unpacked

If its still zipped/crx/packed then choose that

The browser will copy the packed file (extract) it to browsers program folder, so you can delete the downloaded file afterwards

But if you load the unpacked (extracted) folder to Vivaldi it will use the mod from that very location

I recommend loading it to Vivaldi as packed

Instructions are for chrome but chrome://urls work in Vivaldi too.

vivaldi://extensions chrome://settings Etc

Btw, Vivaldi is the best browser

If you're on Android and want extensions to mobile get Kiwi browser it's similar to Chrome and Vivaldi on mobile and can use almost all chrome web store extensions (as well as Edge extensions).

Speaking of mobile and extensions, later this year Firefox on Android is getting full open AMO extension support.
