Model Importer support for non-MAX character rigs and matching FBX animation files #1082

Open thor49 opened 3 years ago

thor49 commented 3 years ago

When you buy Character models some are supplied like this..

  1. An FBX base Character Rigged Mesh file.
  2. Lots of Animation FBX files with animated Rig - NO MESH.
  3. Lots Of Texture Files.

GGMax importer will look at Mesh file and say No Animations found so no access to the animation section buttons... If you have an animation in the mesh file and get access to the animation section.. and try to load animation file.. GGMax look at file and say error no mesh in animation file..

Confirmed, you can’t add a fbx animation if it’s it skinned

@thor49 The process now works for characters rigged with the new Blender rig provided in the Guides folder, but not for non-MAX rigs. I have moved this to a feature request so in the future model importer can use ANY rig imported, and allow matching animations for that rig to be applied. For now we currently favor characters made via the body parts system of the character creator, maximum flexibility for most users who cannot create/source their own characters from scratch.
