I believe this is already possible in MAX. I have a crate that uses separate textures/materials for different parts of the model. When I import it into MAX, I get a dropdown box that allows me to select the various parts by name and apply the textures for diffuse, roughness, etc., to each as required.
Oh, now i wanted to check it but my models i made in Cinema 4D completely break when i import, but i looked and seems you're right, but i can't tell because of how broken the model is, and it shows like 100 parts. But yeah, i think you're right. Thanks.
Hello! I've actually told this in one broadcast, but just in case i'll leave this here for discussion. I think it would VERY useful to make model importer be able to set textures for separate parts of model, like for example substance painter makes separate texture images for each model part. Adding a dropdown menu or a list for part texture assigning in the importer would be great, so it's possible to add multiple textures instead of one merged.
And this is actually extremely important for me, since i already started to make my own models and textures for a project i will make on game guru max.
