Textures importer request #3870

Hi,

this is not a bug, just an idea. I use unity since years and have many textures for this. They are all jpg. Now I tried in GGMax. I knew that jpg isn't supported. I searched tutorials annd tested many config types, even to make it dds. This I tryerd many hours, at 5 days. It is not that I'm knew in programming and working with images. But in GGMax, I have no chance. I think I'm not the only one with this problem. But GG is an easy Gamemaker :) So can you just integrate in GGMax a simple converter for jpg files to the matching dds file, so Everybody easy can use own textures in seconds? For me, it would be a big step :).

P.S.: The currently Buildingeditor is brilliant! So many changes, so many new details. Thank you for this! I can start my Cube inspired game.

Greetings, Andreas

There is an amazing piece of software on GGMax store for converting and optimizing jpeg and png to DDS. It is paid option though.

Thanks for your answer. I know this tool, Graphix did an amazing job. But there must still set some settings. It is easy, but... I was thinking at something integrated in GGMax. In Menu the point "texture converter", After click that, an image upload, RadioBoxes to choose what texture it shoul become. Something like that. I would pay for it too. Perhaps something integrated by Graphix, with pay to ublock and a little text that it is from Graphix.

I have so many seperat programs for Unity. GG integrate a little bit of them. For example the CharatorCreater and the Building Editor. All directly in Menu.

I see what you mean, I'm believe Lee has spoken once about having GGMax convert texture in one of the broadcast as answers. I hope it gets implemented one day.

Just convert them to .png in Paint or Gimp or whatever.

We have discussed the idea of an tool to convert textures to a format suitable for terrain. Thanks for the reminder.

Great to read this, thank you. I hope, time by time, it will not be only for terrain, also walls in EBE :)
