Improve GPU card compatibility to avoid "Screen Flickering Blue" issue #4068

Open Teabone3 opened 1 year ago

This has been happening to me over the years and I've heard its happened with a few others as well , some years ago.

It doesn't happen all the time but on occasions. Where when you launch Game Guru Classic a previous map will show while the screen flashes blue and grey/white. This requires a reboot of the engine to get the editor back to normal with loading an empty map. When on load if it ever starts flickering blue like this, im not able to click new map or interact with entity panel.

I was able to record it in the latest OBS. Previous recording softwares were not able to see the blue flicker.

On on an Nvidia 960

Have you tried rolling back your drivers? Just so we can try and track down the issue. It certainly looks card related.

I'll have to try that. I should mention that this has happened for me on 3 different NVIDIA cards over the years on Windows 7 and Windows 10.

A few similar experiences some members have had (could be card related):

@Teabone3 Not able to reproduce and the video is no longer listed: "This video isn't available any more". Does it happen these days, and do you know of a way to reproduce it every time?

I still have this issue, though when I close GGC and re-launch it seems to work fine.

Map will flicker and a screen that is blue. I've had instances where it would even show two maps flicking, from a previous save to a new empty map.

I've used rolled back drivers and new, for my GPU and is still sometimes occurs.

If others (and only a select few) are experiencing this, it may not be a big deal, since the work around is to close GGC entirely and relaunch.

@Teabone3 I will set this to LOW and if another report comes in on this, I will request a video and hopefully we can get a closer look at the sequence since launching Classic. I have not seen the issue myself, but maybe there is a specific set of circumstances that need to be in place for the issue to reveal itself.
