BTW - This could be an OPTION, in my opinion, and not the standard inventory. The standard inventory would be the one where each item, regardless of size, is just placed in a single box.
Something else that would be nice and something i mentioned in my own post (#3302) on inventories a long while ago is item rotation, which would also help decrease space in the inventory, or just in general keep it a lot more organized, which is always a great option.
Basically click on the item or drag it, press R, and it rotates inside the inventory.
P.S. extremely based taste in games, immersive sims ftw 👌
It's fairly common in RPG games for larger items (rifles, swords, etc.) to use more inventory space than smaller items (ammo, potions, healing kits, etc.). It's part of what is called Inventory Management. I'd like to (eventually) see this in MAX as well. Some game examples that use this:
