Special respawn grace period. 1.12.2 request. #43

OK really like the mod so far highly configurable etc. really neat for my Hardcore pack. One question. Would it be possible, to give the player a phase invulnerability (grace period for a configurable time) where they can’t take damage or be targeted? Until they do damage to something or break a block, pick up a grave etc. (also would it be possible to add something like a grave or do I need a secondary mod for that)

Please describe the new feature or change.

  1. Grace period after respawn for configurable time until player interacts with something
  2. Maybe a gravestone like thing.

Please describe why you want this feature.

  1. To give players a chance to escape a spawn camp situation. But also prevent abuse of invulnerability (breaks that buff once they do something other than walk back to their grave)
  2. To not add extra mods that may or may not randomly conflict at some point.

I could certainly add something like this. Probably as some sort of potion effect. I'm a little more hesitant about adding a gravestone-type feature, mostly because it just seems like there's a lot of them out there already and I don't think my implementation would bring anything new to the table.

Ye the respawn grace period as a buff sounds nice, could then be easily worked in to the already existing feature of the give buffs on respawn thingy.

As for the graves.. Well ye there are many mods out there adding graves, but you already have a neat teleport back to death location scroll. Would be nice if it would put you right on top of where it created your gravestone so a build in gravestone feature would work nicely together. And ontop of that a gravestone gives the player a reson to go back get his items but also know they are there when he arives.

Currently even with a separate gravestone mod installed, if I use the return scroll it literally teleports me to the location I got killed, so if it was out of the world or in lave or under the sea etc it will just kill me again and again and again.

I jut thought it would be nice if it would on death build in create a gravestone at a save location near your death point, and then set the teleport scrolls teleportation to that created grave block, slightly above it so you don’t get stuck in it.

On that note, it may also be a good thing to do a slight tweak to the placement logic of the player when they use the return scroll. Had a few people complain that it places them in walls, if there isn’t too much room. Like looking for a good spot to place them nearest spot!
