Why do Current Prices in investment accounts stop automatically updating and is there a way to turn it on again? #123

What causes the 2 prices highlighted to get out of sync and how do we fix it?

My perception of how Moneydance works:

Say I have an investment in an investment account for which I do not have a source of prices. Here is how Moneydance appears to work.

  1. When you enter a buy or a sell, it updates the price history with the price from the buy or the sell
  2. When you look at the Portfolio View the most recently entered price determines the value of the position

Everything is good. Then, at some point, it just stops. I think what triggers it is if you make any kind of manual edit to the price history of the security at all. Then it stops updating the current price and it never updates again. One has to go manually update the Current Price field from this point forward.

It may be that this isn't a fully accurate description of what is happening, but, it is maddening. Can we have some way to control it so the Current Price always stays in sync with the most recent transaction price (or, I suppose, the most recent price before the current date)

Andrew. FYI - This is the wrong place for IK support. You should repost on the proper forum:

Regardless check the price history to see if a more recent dated price exists. That probably prevents older dates updating...
