Hello there,

I am interested in using the HPO workbench, however when i run the application, i get the following error message: Exception in thread "JavaFX Application Thread" java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException at javafx.fxml/javafx.fxml.FXMLLoader$MethodHandler.invoke(FXMLLoader.java:1787) at javafx.fxml/javafx.fxml.FXMLLoader$ControllerMethodEventHandler.handle(FXMLLoader.java:1670) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.CompositeEventHandler.dispatchBubblingEvent(CompositeEventHandler.java:86) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.EventHandlerManager.dispatchBubblingEvent(EventHandlerManager.java:238) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.EventHandlerManager.dispatchBubblingEvent(EventHandlerManager.java:191) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.CompositeEventDispatcher.dispatchBubblingEvent(CompositeEventDispatcher.java:59) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.BasicEventDispatcher.dispatchEvent(BasicEventDispatcher.java:58) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.EventDispatchChainImpl.dispatchEvent(EventDispatchChainImpl.java:114) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.BasicEventDispatcher.dispatchEvent(BasicEventDispatcher.java:56) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.EventDispatchChainImpl.dispatchEvent(EventDispatchChainImpl.java:114) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.BasicEventDispatcher.dispatchEvent(BasicEventDispatcher.java:56) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.EventDispatchChainImpl.dispatchEvent(EventDispatchChainImpl.java:114) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.BasicEventDispatcher.dispatchEvent(BasicEventDispatcher.java:56) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.EventDispatchChainImpl.dispatchEvent(EventDispatchChainImpl.java:114) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.BasicEventDispatcher.dispatchEvent(BasicEventDispatcher.java:56) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.EventDispatchChainImpl.dispatchEvent(EventDispatchChainImpl.java:114) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.EventUtil.fireEventImpl(EventUtil.java:74) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.EventUtil.fireEvent(EventUtil.java:49) at javafx.base/javafx.event.Event.fireEvent(Event.java:198) at javafx.graphics/javafx.scene.Node.fireEvent(Node.java:8865) at javafx.controls/javafx.scene.control.Button.fire(Button.java:200) at javafx.controls/com.sun.javafx.scene.control.behavior.ButtonBehavior.mouseReleased(ButtonBehavior.java:206) at javafx.controls/com.sun.javafx.scene.control.inputmap.InputMap.handle(InputMap.java:274) at javafx.base/com.sun.javafx.event.CompositeEventHandler$NormalEventHandlerRecord.handleBubblingEvent(CompositeEventHandler.java:218)

This is the java version that I am using: openjdk version "11.0.7" 2020-04-14 OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 11.0.7+10-post-Ubuntu-2ubuntu218.04) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 11.0.7+10-post-Ubuntu-2ubuntu218.04, mixed mode, sharing)

I resolved the issues with JavaFX by adding the following dependencies: `

org.openjfx
        <artifactId>javafx-controls</artifactId>
        <version>11</version>
    </dependency>

    <dependency>
        <groupId>org.openjfx</groupId>
        <artifactId>javafx-fxml</artifactId>
        <version>11</version>
    </dependency>

    <dependency>
        <groupId>org.openjfx</groupId>
        <artifactId>javafx-web</artifactId>
        <version>11</version>
    </dependency>`

Thanks for any suggestions !

At the moment, the Workbench tool has only been tested with Oracle Java 8. We are starting to update some of our JavaFX tooling to Java 11/Java 14, but have not yet worked on this app. Are you saying that the error still occured despite updating the pom file?

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, the error is still occuring, although i updated the pom.xml. I will try to run the application on a Oracle Java 8 version.

OK, sorry -- I have made this repo public in case it is useful but since we never published this as an article I can only work on this as time allows. It is a little tricky to port some of the FX code to Java 11 it seems, but I hope to get to that this year.
