Omaha and in fact all of Silicon Prarie (Lincoln/Omaha, NE, Kansas City, MO, to Des Moines, IA) are all incredible places to live.

I myself, live in Lincoln, NE and then make the 55 mile one-way commute (~55 min), to Omaha to work at Mutual of Omaha.

I grew up as a Detroit Metro, Michigan Native (18 years), and then hopped between a few cities (during and after college) like Milwaukee, and Springfield, MO.

Surprising to most people on the coasts, Nebraska has incredibly affordable cost of living, and if you don't mind a commute, you can commute to Omaha like I do to have a slightly better income.

One of my favorites: http://omahamagazine.com/2016/08/omaha-defies-housing-trilemma-trade-off/ (also interesting to note about this one, I tweeted the author of this research and he stated that if Lincoln was in the mix for this sample of cities, it would rank number one or two out of all of them).

Anyways aside from the data, in my opinion, there is no better place to raise a family and keep a sustainable job and cost of living. The schools are great, the cities are lively (especially during College football season). The rate of growth that the city is experiencing is astronomical.

@TheLarkInn One concern I've always had about working in tech outside of one of the major hubs is that if I ever needed/wanted to change jobs, there wouldn't be many options. Was that something you thought about when you moved to Nebraska?
