Launcher does not start #134

After starting the launcher and confirming the Windows UAC dialog, nothing happens. The launcher seems to crash immediately (it shows up in the task manager for a brief moment, then disappers), and there isn't even an error message.

After some configuration, I finally got Windows to at least display some "has stopped working" error message. When I click "View problem details", this information appears:

Further details: I'm running Windows 8.1 on a VirtualBox VM. The Alpha version works fine on my system using the SvpRad workaround. The Beta version also starts, but is unusable due to the black screen bug. This is the first time I'm trying to use the Launcher. I've also briefly tried a Windows 10 VM, but the launcher doesn't work there either. (And obviously, neither the Alpha nor the Beta version of the game work on Win10 unpatched.)

What is your real operating system?

My host OS is Manjaro Linux.

You can get the game running on Wine

I'm running the Launcher on Proper Windows 10, and it's not launching! No matter what I do, be it reinstalling or changing the compatibility settings, it just won't launch. Can someone help me out here?

Is this issue still present in version 1.2.5?

Yes, it's still crashing.
