Check on both see if you can find it there...

Ok I found them but the images are all black with a weird design on them.

Are you exporting Hybrid maps? I guess that is a bug the we have not fixed yet
you might want to try with the regular maps, see if it works OK...

I've checked it with Maps, Terrain and Satellite - and even without maps.
Than I got an black and white lined PNG - so it's a problem during the export
itself.
I've also double checked it on an "older" system (not all updates), fresh from
the .deb Installer - the same :-(

On linux instead of running from the deb try running directly from the sources:
http://gmapcatcher.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/
The starting point is maps.py

Year, it's working with default settings. Gereat!
For new users, type in the console:
svn checkout http://gmapcatcher.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/
... now you have a new folder "trunk". Type
python ./trunk/maps.py
to start the program and have fun!
