So instead of requesting the user to submit the current time, let the user
choose to submit the current time or to save it and continue ticking when the
client is started again.

No, that was not the original idea. My suggestion was to develop such a
mechanism that is able to pause the timer automatically when the user logs off
the Windows account or just lock the station and restart the timer when the
user logs in or unlock the station (without any interaction with the user).
For example, I'm working on some issue, press WIN+L to lock the station because
I need to go somewhere and later I'm back and I unlock the station. I would
like the timer to be paused when I'm away automatically. Is it possible?
