I don't agree with it. The posts appearing where they do now when filtered
remains consistent with the flow of the topic. Updating the foe system is no
substitute for self-control. If you don't want to read a hidden post, don't
click it. Also hiding every post that uses words of your choosing is silly.
imo hiding a bunch of posts through the foe list and a swear filter will ruin
topics, you'll have people responding and discussing things already discussed
and resolved by people earlier in the topic, also are we really active enough
to need such a filter?
Also I think I phrased the "moving posts" thing wrong. The way hidden posts
work right now is that you click a link and it refreshes the page with a new
action telling it to display the posts. What the option I add would change
would be where those links are, so you don't see "This is a hidden post" in
the middle of the topic between other posts, but when you click the link near
the top that says "there are x hidden posts on this page", it would let you
view the thread as normal.
I don't want to view all hidden posts at once. I want to view the specific
ones that I click.
I think it all works well enough as it is, and with how skittish the filter
can be I think it would actually get in the way if it's hiding innocent posts
that happen to include a word somewhere in their text. The post hiding system
needs improving, but only in the sense that it's annoying to reload the page
just to view the posts. I think there are also issues on the moderator side,
and it could be a bit easier for mods to hide posts. Those are the things that
are worth focusing on IMO.
You kind of have to think about whether this actually improves the system for
people using it. If you can't be absolutely sure that it does, then there are
things more worth doing.
Missing post where its suggested to be able to hide posts if they contain certain words
