Survival of CCRP #30

I'm creating this here so you'll see it CatMan.

I'm worried about the survival of CCRP. Spy isn't going to run CCRPV and IV is on it's last legs (The rules are gone with roitwell and donnis_dool, the map is almost unusably misaligned, and Spy is initiating the spaceship end-of-CCRPIV relic chain). We need to do something.

My suggestion is to create a new map for V (All of which is known at the start of the RP) which will need minimal editing later. Otherwise the iteration is the same as IV, just restarted to the beginning of the tech chain. We can have me, you, spy, outbox, and puppyscratch work on it here. I can take over from spy as future "relic admin" and otherwise we can keep all the admins the same. This can be run theoretically indefinitely.

BTW I'm going to give up the TE to a new or returning player soon as it's getting out of hand; I'm going to start a pirate organization to run until the end of the iteration for more simplicity. There's plenty of room for multiple influential members if you want to lead with me.

Well, it's sad this happened so quick. I've been watching from the shadows for a while (still account-less though), and I've noticed CCRP IV has been weak and falling apart lately. No rules just spells disaster (though I may be able to dig up a copy somewhere), the players are largely new, and the map... what even happened lol (the lack of positioning is sort of my fault, though I intended to fix it when I had time and it's even worse now). I'm even more worried because I noticed CBU IS collapsing...

I honestly never expected Spy to host V (he could do a great job, but hasn't ever seemed to be very active since II), but that means we NEED a rules overhaul to turn IV into V. Part of the problem in my eyes might be that we made IV a bit too complicated with the experimental rules. Of course, we still want much of it, but an auto-upkeep calculator and revised war mechanics would be really good. Anyhow, I'd be glad to work with all of you on the map and rules to get the iteration ready-I'd probably actually return to Scratch for it even if it was easier (my return is long-overdue anyway).

Can't blame you for giving up the TE-the safeguard we have for preventing everyone from becoming too powerful is that you have to do an absurd amount of math (jk).

Soon I'll make a new Scratch account (will be able to do so) so that I could help lead with you, which is something I'd absolutely like to do, but anytime we can certainly start work on setting up V here.

Thanks. In the meantime while we work on V w ccrpiv can run for a while longer.

Okay @Namesniping, bigger update: On paragraph 1: I think the main reason CCRP has collapsed is the fact roitwell deleted his account rather than going inactive. What a mistake...

On paragraph 2: Some of the experimental rules were so extra or added too late. As for war mechanics, out-box has the right idea: have the war or head admin arbitrate between the various parties in the war, deciding how every action goes. Also there isn't a limit to offensive actions, except that there can only be 1 per unit in a front ig? It's hard to tell what with the latest pincer movements and uno rockets and planes and nukes complicating the whole thing.

On paragraph 3: I gave up the TE not because of the math, but because my upkeep sheet had been full for too long so upkeep had never been recalculated for some old stuff, or never removed (Think old stuff, like MOWs, that might have never been removed even after I got rid of them). In addition my army and navy are powerful but... strange... and some background items (Vehicle factories, airship factories, things like sawmills that were added recently, and things like forges which I had forgotten about) are missing or few and far between. So... pirates! Feel free to join in, I stole 4 ships (2 cruisers and 2 destroyers).

On paragraph 4, part 1: How can you create a new Scratch account? Did the ST let you?

On paragraph 4, part 2: Welp I never expected to be head admin but here we are ig, I'll ask out-box on this later (And link this to him and animator and spy). I would prefer if there is a hierarchy in place for who gets head admin if the head admin's inactive. So say head admin > war admin > insert other admins > insert trusted players

P1: Agreed, we not only lost the rules but the CCRP II History series and invaluable records of the GUE and other things... I was honestly really surprised he did it when I deleted my accounts (more on that below) and wish it didn't happen.

P2: Very true, many of those rules were just last-minute additions or honestly just ideas we wanted to test. @Out-Box certainly has been doing what I wanted from the war rules in a war/head admin, which I appreciate, though things are still a little confusing at first glance to an outsider. It'd still be a good system, but imagine a battle engine... (probably won't happen though lol)

P3: Of course I meant upkeep lol. We could really use an automatic or admin-run upkeep tracking project, as difficult as it might be, or at least try to find an easier way to manage it all. Late Fictia was an upkeep mess too (I think you've seen that mess of a project lol), though I took the time to do the manual math to fix anything and keep my ridiculously large stockpiles updated-easily an hour of work each week which pretty much no one would want to do.

P4 part 1: Well, honestly I was NOT banned on any account on my "newer" altnet (of course Fictia and associated alts were and are still banned), I simply deleted them all. Sorry since I'm usually honest, but I was facing something IRL I needed to withdraw from life a while to confront and I didn't just want to go "I quit" or anything. Now I'm eager to rejoin though.

P4 part 2: I figured you'd eventually be on the admin hierarchy tbh, you seemed like the sort of player who would aim for influence. Yet I'm sure you could do a good job as head admin-we should all discuss this but since I've had my turn I'm not itching to return to unlimited power for now. There already is such a hierarchy me and roitwell made, right now its Head Admin > Co-Head Admin (if applicable) > Tech Admin > Map Admin > Admission Admin > War Admin. We could adjust it though as a group since roitwell just invented it though.

Well, that being said, I'll go create a new Scratch account, of course the first thing I will do with it is post in the studio.

TheMowgliMan commented 1 year ago

On the hierarchy, I think the war admin should be higher as he has to deal with people in war and stay active. Both are... not easy, especially when Snabian. It makes him or her more suited for the job (Also I don't think admission admins really exist lol).

Also, glad you're back. I understand completely.

Great point, I've thought of that before. I'm pretty sure the only reason why war admin was so low was the fact that it was originally AlexGrozniy who didn't want too much responsibility. So true though lol.

Thanks, glad to be back.

Hello, this is qloak. I'd like to say that I am completely capable of helping with this situation.
