USB connection with VitaShell in GameCart mode disconnect from PC with 1.74 #283

Open KoRnBoy82 opened 7 years ago

KoRnBoy82 commented 7 years ago

I change mode to GameCart with start on Vitashell to copy a cartridge and the USB device mounting crash so I can't copy my cartridge. FTP mode works though.

KoRnBoy82 commented 7 years ago

Normal USB mode works though so my cable is OK.

Why is this labeled as 'enhancement'? This clearly is a bug :(

KoRnBoy82 commented 7 years ago

Don't know why but I'm certain this a bug everyone has now.

TheOfficialFloW commented 7 years ago

I'll look into it. I made a change in the usb driver and didn't test it carefully.

KoRnBoy82 commented 7 years ago

Thank you.

Also having this problem with Mac with VitaShell 1.75 or 1.74. If USB set as game card and connect to Mac I can correctly read and dump cart, but if I try to eject it'll screw up Finder and the game card "exfat" disk remains but greyed out and frozen. I cannot mount anything else after this, not even a different drive or SD card. Trying to relaunch Finder doesn't work, only quits Finder and will not open it again, rebooting then will get stuck at black loading screen and must do hard reset to power off.

However if I don't unmount, just press circle in VitaShell and pull the plug, I am able to remount with a different game card and can still mount other drives. But the "exfat" GC disk remains and greyed out still, only way to get rid of it is to reboot (can reboot normally in this case)

Bug still existent in 1.76. Still crashes the Desktop

m0uSe84 commented 6 years ago

Bug is fixed with 1.78. Connected it to the PC and copied and deleted stuff w/o any problems.

Thanks :)

can't mount game card to USB in 1.9. Windows tells me disk is corrupted and ask me to format it. Do you guys have this problem?

m0uSe84 commented 6 years ago

Problem exists again in the newest version: https://imgur.com/a/FXtnRVH

Happens on several PCs.

m0uSe84 commented 6 years ago

Problem still exists with: PC: Latest version of Win10 (1803) USB 2.0 Mainboard Port Original USB Vita Cable

PS Vita: Vitashell 1.94 Latest NPdrm 3.68 Firmware H-Encore PSV 1000

MDashK commented 5 years ago

Yeah, this is still happening on the latest v1.98 version...

Whovian9369 commented 5 years ago

Getting the same with 1.98 on my Vita (currently on 3.60) and trying to mount my Risk of Rain Cartridge via USB. Windows 10 (1809) Vita USB Cable

3.60 PSV PCH-1000 Enso installed Vita Shell 1.94 As far as I know, latest NPdrm

Whenever I try to mount the game card via USB, all that Windows Explorer does is try to load the window with the files, but the window inevitably freezes as it tries to load the file list for "Exfat (E:)" -- Where it then prompts me to format the partition. (Which is the same issue as shallen320 has above.)

Will happily provide any more information that I can, and thanks for your time! :)

areddin commented 5 years ago

I'm having the same issue (symptoms as described by @Whovian9369) on version 2.0. Was trying to dump my FFX HD cart to copy to my SD2Vita. I spent a while trying to figure out if this was a problem with StorageMgr config or something like that before coming across this bug report. Dumping via FTP works but is quite slow.

guymanley commented 4 years ago

Still present in 2.02. One time I was able to mount Persona 4 Golden and have windows recognize the drive and browse the file structure. I didn't dump the game then and I was never able to have windows see the game card as a drive again. Just an exfat drive with no meta data on the drive size or it requested to format the disk to use the drive. Windows even did this to my ux0 which was my internal memory on the PSV2000 when swapping to that as the USB target. I rebooted my PC and Vita. Appeared to stop that behavior. At this point I'm afraid to attempt dumping my games over USB.

Melluish commented 4 years ago

I am getting the same thing with a PS Vita 2000 running the latest version of VitaShell. Windows Explorer shows the progress in the address bar but it just goes on forever. When I try to eject it says I need to format the drive. The game card was Wipeout 2048.

3.60 Enso No SD2Vita

and my ps vita card is mounted as uma0 and if I connect it for display via usb, exactly like ftp, the computer does not see half of the folders on it, although the display of hidden files is turned on
